The Challenge
The Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) provides a variety of social services to the residents of Los Angeles County. The DPSS Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides computer systems development, support, and contract administration for the department. The Office manages local area networks in the various DPSS offices utilizing the County LANET network infrastructure, installs and manages electronic mail, develops and supports an extensive array of software applications, as well as performs evaluations and procurement of automation hardware and software to meet a wide variety of automation needs.
OIT is responsible for the deployment of technological business solutions to help DPSS operate with the greatest level of efficiency and accuracy possible.
The department wanted to re-engineer the Fixed Assets Tracking and other related financial applications to web based technology.
The Solution
WATI team worked with the DPSS’ Financial Management application support team in the development of the Fixed Assets Tracking System and other Web based financial applications specific to the departmental requirements. WATI developed the to-be business processes for the new web applications and proposed options to redesign the current business processes with a browser-based technology. The team designed, developed and tested the web applications utilizing the implemented Oracle database framework to extend the functionality of applications. WATI worked with DPSS Financial Management Services application developers to insure adherence to Web architectural standard. WATI developed and maintained operational and system level documentation.
Results
DPSS was able deploy browser-based Fixed Asset Tracking System using Oracle DB that adhered to the county web standards and easily maintainable by LA County.
